Shower booster pumps cannot be connected directly to the mains supply. The idea is to increase the pressure from low level header tanks where there is a stored quantity of water.
If a pump is installed directly to the rising main, to improve the flow, the pump will need to suck water from the incoming supply which will put your underground main at a negative pressure. If this supply pipe is perforated at any point along it's length, ground water would be sucked into the supply consequently contaminating the drinking water.
