Pipes Humming Very Loudly

by Cell01 » Sat Jul 19, 2008 11:06 am

Hi, I'm housesitting for a friend for a while and have a problem with their water system. After running any of the Hot taps for a while the pipes in the bathroom start to hum really loudly. The only way to stop it is to turn on the bathroom sink tap for a few seconds. Is this some kind of problem with the pressure? It hasn't always done this but not sure when it started exactly.... Driving me mad as cannot run a bath!!

All help appreciated

hi there cello, ive had this problem in the past. have a look under the bath and see if there are flexible hoses joining the taps to the pipes, one may be twisted so that when you have the water on full it is trying to push the twist out of it,so when u turn the basin on there is less pressure so therefore less noise, let me know how it goes.

Replace ball valve on tank. This should solve the problem.
