Bitumen painting external wall

by angiec » Fri Aug 01, 2008 8:37 am

I've recently bought my first house and it is an end terrace. The survey identified that the end wall is single bricked and should be regularly bitumen painted to prevent damp getting into the house. I’ve not really noticed any damp internally and this is the way I’d like things to stay! So my question is, what am I supposed to do with this wall? I can already see patches which aren’t covered in the bitumen paint and I just want to make sure I am doing the right things with this wall
Thanks

I live on an end terrace

MGC (Mould Growth Consultants) are worth a call as they may also be able to suggest an interior lining as well. If it is single brick then using sempatap thermal on the inside should provide good insulation and you can wallpaper over it.
Depending on where you live there are also some diy schemes from the local councils.
