What finish quality should we expect for a skim over dry lining boards. We have had done a room with this method and it looks very good in most light
until a light is shone along the wall in any direction and the finish looks very different. Are we expecting to much from a hand trowelled finish to be perfect?

There should be no ridges or lumps and when the paint is applied it should not show any defects.

Thanks for your response. There are no ridges and no obviouse lumps or
defects until the wall lights are on then the shadows cast along the wall show the smallest of rise and fall in the surface. The plasterer claims it is the best he can do and that it is not possible to get a surface as flat as a plate of glass.
Another plasterer said it is a good job - are they right?
