My son likes idea of under floor heating. But we have one unanswered question. If for health reasons the domestic hot water must be over 60°C.
How can the floor be kept cool enough to stand on with bare feet. I could not stand on my radiator with comfort.
I know 80°C (Table 42.1) is max for normal metal radiators and 55°C for hand held the same temp required for Legionellae to die within 5 to 6 hours which I would assume same for standing on with bare feet.
With a radiator it switches on and off but with under floor heating I would not want to find whole floor warming up to 60°C then cooling down again like with radiators it would not be comfortable.
So how is it controlled? I realise of course the water could contain bacteria inhibitors for the central heating circulating water but if using solar panels etc I would assume it would all be part of same system.

Sorry seemed to have missed this post.

You would normally fit a digital thermostat / control panel, in the same room as the underfloor heating - although not possible if it's in a bathroom.

The control panel, will have floor sensors connected to it - evenly distributed in the floor. The size of the room determines the number of sensors required.

If unsure why not get a underfloor heating specialist to come out and explain the systems, how they work, the controls and the best way to fit. No obligation quote - if you think it's sounds easy do it yourself - if not employ him to do the work.

He has not got the house ex chapel yet so can't as yet do as you suggest. He fitted central heating in last house without any real problems but this is a really big room and heating is likely to be a problem as with any room 25 foot high. He intends to fit a mezzanine floor and also some solar heating room is not a problem so been looking at gledhill cylinders as storage.
But when we looked a temperatures then we wondered if under floor heating can run off same system as the rest? My house has two boilers one for central heating and one for hot water fitted before we ever had seen a combi about 25 years ago but he would like everything integrated.
