Light fitting sparked and blew fuse, now it doesnt work

by ttony » Thu Aug 28, 2008 1:12 pm

Hi, I turned the the light on in the kitchen and there was a pop and a spark.
This blew the fuse for the circuit it was on, so I changed the fuse and all the lights started working again but the one that blew doesnt.
Does the fitting have to be changed or is there a wiring fault or something?
Cheers
Tone

Hi

Have you checked out the DIY Projects section at all: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects.htm? There is a project relating to "Blowing Light Bulbs" that may be of some use to you: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/bulbs.htm

Hope this help!

You say light but not what type a pendent bulb is unlikely to need anything more that changing bulb where a florescent normally has built in fuse but if as you describe more likely to need new fitting.
