Removing a power shower unit from the water input pipes All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

I have an Aqualisa Aquastream (1997 - 2003 model) which I am trying to demount from the wall in order to replace it with the newer model.

The unit is fed by hot and cold water pipes entering from the rear. The plastic pipe connectors into which they locate are push fit, but there are no collets to push in to release their grip. Consequently, I can't get the unit free of the pipes.

Does anyone have any idea as to how I can accomplish this?

I've fitted a few Aqualisa showers......and as far as remember all of the ones I've fitted did have the release rings on the fittings.

I suppose your only alternative is the trusty old junior hacksaw.

Sorry........I knew there was something at the back of my mind, (it's been a good few years since I fitted these things).


There may not be any grab rings fitted on the inlets of these units, so have you tried unscrewing the shower and just pulling it off the pipes.

Thanks, Jondeau. The new unit doesn't have collet type fixtures either, so I think the idea is that the pipes should just pull off, but I suspect that they have become siezed on over the years. I've pulled away, but they won't budge. I think I'll have to disconnect the pipes further back at the first elbow joints and pull the lot through.
