1. Is it best to put insulation between wall and plasterboard?
2. If so, what type is best?
- I have seen plasterboard with polystyrene backing - is that good or not? I've normally seen yellow insulation fibre material between wall & plasterboard...?
3. Is it best to 'skim' it afterwards?

Hi,
There all kinds of insulation on the market at moment prices differ, depending type you use kingspan or same types are very good and easily cut to right size, rock wool is cheap but also good (that is the yellow stuff). I'd always insulate between stud work behind board. The plasterboard with polystyrene is not something i'm over keen on, it does serve a purpose but comes with problems.
When insulating walls be aware of electric cable routes because if you surrond cable with insulation because of the heating effect, it effects the cables current carrying capacity. So do not cover electric cables with insulation unless you are totally sure of the cable calcs.
