Piping hot and cold water to detached outbuilding

by D-Mac » Sun Sep 14, 2008 10:13 pm

Hello,

I am wanting to supply hot and cold water to a detached outbuilding that is 15 feet from the house. As the hot water will possibly be used everyday but in small quantities in this building it seems pointless installing a separate boiler in the outbuilding for it (I can just rely on the boiler in the main house).

I am building an extension to the main house and have the opportunity to run these pipes through the new floor slab (positioning them before the concrete is laid), under the garden and out to the outbuilding so that everything is nicely concealed.

Should I use plastic pipes for this job? Is there anything I should be aware of in doing this job (freeze risks, jointing, etc)?
