potterton flamingo 40 fires up intermittantly

hi need help my boiler fires up intermittantly on hot water and central heating can be ok for a couple of days then decides it will on fire up when it feels like it please help.the pump runs and the boiler pilot light stays on

more details needed - does the pump run, does the boiler do anything at all?
