Drain covers in gravel drive

by philstowe » Fri Sep 26, 2008 11:07 am

I'm planning to have my slab drive replaced by gravel. There are some inspection hatch covers which I would prefer to be hidden by the gravel, is there a suitable cover/tray I can buy that can be sunk down and filled with gravel but not a shiny metal so the stones move about?

I know it's a bit specific but somebody has mentioned one, perhaps with a bitumen coat on top, but I can't find anything suitable online.

Thanks in advance.

Phil

hi
You could cover up the keyholes and lay a say 15mm bed of fairly sloppy mortar and whilst still wet throw a fairly thin layer of gravel over the top once dry put more gravel over the top and should keep it all in place, very important to keep lifting holes/handles clear though in case you need to lift them in future.
Hope this helps
Misery.
