New Plaster Drying Times

by CD123 » Thu Oct 02, 2008 5:59 pm

Hi all
I,ve just had an extension built and walls scratched and skimmed.
How long before I can a) paint and b) tile.
Also when you first paint, are you supposed to use a weak paint mix for base coat?

Next, Im laying a new floor screed, 100mm. How long to dry out before laying carpet?

I would appreciate any advice you may give.

Many Thanks

Plaster drying time no strict rules, just common sense. Idealy 48 days but sometimes not posible. Depending on depth of applications, wait for all damp or dark patches to dry and lighten up. Could be as quick as 3 days again depending on enviroment.
Floor i'd give it a couple of week but seen it laid on within days.
before you lay on you can get solutions that toughen up and seal against damp.
