First time posting and in addition I am useless with my hands so be gentle.
I live in a Victorian (sand)stone built house and in trying to clear some sand from behind a wall i have damaged the plaster. I've peeled off the wallpaper and taken the broken plaster back to the lath. I've now got an area of about 6" x 6" to repair.
It seems such a small area to plasterboard I wondered whether i could just staple some polythene sheeting onto the lath and then plaster on top of that. I've been told that I could cut a piece of cardboard to fit the hole and then plaster onto the cardboard.
Alternatively can I just plaster onto the lath and by doing so am I running the risk of plaster falling behind the lath and thus creating damp patches on the wall with possible future blockages
