adding a chimney

by Mr.Punch » Fri Nov 07, 2008 11:38 pm

I have bought an 1850's stone built terraced fisherman's cottage - it's been refurbished but the builder took out the chimney/fireplace.
I'd like to put it back!
Is it possible to do so without spending a fortune and without using up too much interior space?
The front wall is 2' thick but I'm unsure about the side walls, it is a 2 storey cottage with a tiled, pitched roof (and a nice sea view!).

You can buy a chimney kit, that merely needs to be put together.
However, work on a chimney is now subject to council aproval and they will probably insist on it being built by someone qualified.
