Damaged Screw heads Help, advice and problem solutions on all aspects of home appliances from washing machines to TV's

I need to stop a leaking tap on the mixer taps in the bath but have found the screw in the tap head is damaged so that I can't get the screwdriver to grip. I therefore cannot undo this screw.
Can anyone please help with a solution. Thanks.

Can you use a junior hacksaw and saw a straight line to get a screwdriver to fit ?
You could purchase an easyout tool which uses a left hand thread to grip the offending screw to remove same, this also involves drilling a small pilot hole in the screw.
Also could you saw off the head of the screw thus removing the tap and leaving an exposed portion of the thread which you could then grip with a pair of mole grips.
If all else fails bite the bullit and purchase a new mixer tap.

I shall purchase the easyout tool you mention as this seems the only solution and if that fails I shall follow your final recommendation and buy a new mixer tap !!
