i have a combination boiler central heating system and after having an empty fireplace for years ( where the old rayburn was taken out ) i would like to have a range cooker with back boiler back into house as wood is thrown away and land-filled by the ton daily , the problem seems to be marrying the two heats together , can i still keep the sealed system or do i need to go back to a vented system , thank you for your thoughts ! i have had two plumbing firms out to give me a price - only one has got back to me and he wants to charge me for "designing " a system !!

The range cooker would need a gravity fed hot water tank fitting to store the heated water. This must be separate to the combi as they do not like pre-heated water. To be honest, it is going to cost a lot to install and the payback period will be long (I guess).

This system needed designing from day one. I would install a condensing system boiler serving the heating and a primary coil of a hot water cylinder. Then connect a second primary coil in the cylinder to the range cooker. This is similar to a solar arrangement.

I guess you could fit the double coil tank, and connect one coil to the combi heating in a standard "Y" plan. Then just have the combi hot water feeding one tap or better still a mixer shower and all other hot taps connected to the cylinder.

It would definitely be a bespoke system!!
