Boiler pressure

by paulr » Mon Nov 24, 2008 7:44 pm

I've got an historic problem with my glow worm boiler losing pressure quite regularly and needing to be re-pressuriused manually.

I've had a the boiler serviced, the pressure release valve cleaned and then replaced

All, fingers crossed, looks ok at present, but if its not, am I right in guessing it must then be a leak.

If so, any tips on what next so I'm prepared. Are there any products like you used to be able to get for your car radiator that filled leaks somehow?

Hi Paul,

Yes you can get leak sealing products, but your'e better locating the leak.
Take all rad caps off, put tissue under each valve, check all fittings visible etc.

Totally agree - try to locate the leak only use leak sealer as a last resort.

Check all valves, fittings, pipework and radiators, check the vent point on radiators (especially older rads).

Thanks

I've taken the caps off all the radiators and can't see anything obvious. We have obvious signs of leaks from the ceiling and the downstairs pipework is under the flooring. Which I suspect is going to be a big job to check

Are Vent points the same place I bleed the rad from?
