Toilet Cistern drop Valve Loud clunck

by McC » Fri Nov 28, 2008 12:05 pm

(sorry if this duplicates one I thought I had posted a few days ago, whenI now recall I did not enter a subject)

Just fitted a Multikwik drop valve - appears to work okay - no leaks, powerful flush, looks tidy - but the loud clunk as the valve drops a few seconds after pressing the button is driving my wife nuts - Question: does the bayonet connection securing it to the pan accomodate any other makes (ie-is it standard) or am I faced with starting all over again splitting the pan and cistern if I cannot persuade my wife it is normal (Is it normal?)

Generally these valves make that noise, and it is common, when they do a half flush. If the cistern is emptied fully, there is no water pressure to force the valve shut with a thud. Check the settings for how much water is flushed and see if it can be altered to reduce the problem.

You cannot change just part of the valve unless it is the same model.
