Noisy joists in a new extinsion ?

by dublin » Sat Nov 22, 2008 3:29 pm

ello.

Icould do with some help regardind noisy joists in a recently built extension.

We had a bathroom and a boxroom added to the upstairs and extended the kitchen downstairs. The problem is we can hear every footstep upstairs, and we don't know if it's due to badly fitted joists or just down to the tongue and groove fibre board used for the floor. I have added screws in an attempt to tighten the boards to the joists without success.

The reason I am seeking advice is, that the builder has gone bust asllegedly!!

Can anyone help please!!

Thank you in anticipation.

dublin,
Did you get BR approval - I just wonder if the joists are sub-standard.
What size are the joists and what span are they over?
