Damp on internal stone walls

by md257 » Sat Jan 10, 2009 2:45 pm

Hello,

We live in a 100 year old end terraced stone built property, we are having problems originating from the external gable end, our walls on the stairs are constantly wet, and our kitchen walls and cabinets which are situated on the external wall are also wet, and starting to become mouldy.

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions of the best possible solution for this, and the potential cost of such work needed to solve the problem.

Thanks

MD

md257,
You may have two problems, rainwater getting through the wall and condensation on the inside of the wall. The outer of the external wall will need treating with something to make it weatherproof and you will need to buy/hire a de-humidifier to reduce the damp problems inside.
end
