Warped Double Glazing Unit

by Brannan » Sun Jan 11, 2009 2:38 pm

Whilst investigating a draught coming through a 3 pane DG unit I discovered it was caused by the window frame itself being slighly bowed. On a closer look this was seen to be due to the actual side frame the window was set in being very slightly bowed in the middle, as if pressure had been exerted from the top. there was some evidence of cracking in the plaster around the frame too. I guess that over time (the units are around 20+ years old) that the frame has moved or twisted a little and caused the bowing. Is there anything that can be done or is it a case of renewing the whole unit entirely? any advice gratefully received! Thanks
