Does anyone know where I can get the best value roof windows on the net? I have tried www.loftshop.co.uk and screwfix, but if there are any cheaper and anyone knows please tell me. I am putting 2 of the standard sized ones in.

Try the loft conversion project or the loft storage project. The links in there may help.

We have just had a loft conversion and the cold water tank was relocated from the new room so that it is now under a separate sloped section of the roof which is uninsulated. There is a layer of sheeting under the roof tiles, but there is also a draft through this section.
1) Is this draft a normal requirement to ventilate the loft ?
2) Would the tanks and piping be more prone to freezing ?
3) Should we take any additional precautions ?

Ancient french house pitched roof insulation

by Corrinne » Sat Jan 17, 2009 11:21 am

Hi everyone

Planning to reveal a church-like 45 degree pitched roof on an ancient house in Normandy which will need to be insulated and then plasterboarded. Can any of you brilliant folk give us novices any tips as to what the best insulation would be to use, Would a waterproof membrane be necessary? We gather that condensation is a consideration. Can it be done wihtout removing the roof tiles? Thanks in advance.
