Garden wall

by CJM4875 » Wed Nov 21, 2007 2:01 pm

Hi their I have a garden wall (Double Brick) and it has become quite loose and there is some movement in it. What can cause this? I have been told that something called frost bite can cause this. Is this true or just a myth? Also is it possible to get fixed / use the existing bricks again?

Thanks

Craig

the wall could be made from a mixture of sand and lime,in which case it would be easy to take down old wall and clean bricks to re-use.
if the wall foundation is sound, then it should not wobble.
frost can get to the mortar,in which case you you could scrap out powdery mortat and re-point

Garden walls are generally covered under house insurance, whereas fences are not.
