mechanically fixed

by suttons » Wed Dec 24, 2008 12:45 pm

Hello all

This is my first post and im sure the answer is simple, but here goes.Im building an extension with a vaulted ceiling, all ok but on the plan it says. "rafters to be fixed mechanically to 150 50 s/w plate rawlbolted to wall". The only thing im not sure of is "mechanically" does this mean joist hangers or somethinng else.

suttons,
You must fit restraint straps to hold the wall plate in place these should be bolted down the wall. Whether you need joist hangers will depend on the wall plate detail.
