Correct amp fuse?

by cutiecat » Thu Jan 22, 2009 10:05 am

Hello

I am putting a plug on a heated towel rail in the utility room and wondered what amp it needs. The rail is 800w and I thought a 3amp would be right but I just want to check.

Thanks

HI cutiecat,
power devided voltage equals amps.

So if you voltage is 230v and power is 800w

800 / 230 = 3.48
your fuse rating should be greater or equal to this, next one up 5amps

Thanks kbrownie. It is actually 400w so I am ok with the 3 amp.
