PVA applied to wall before tiling!! HELP

by ianb » Sat May 10, 2008 10:48 pm

PVA has been applied to walls which I wish to tile in a 3:1 ratio, Any experienced advice on what/ if anything can be coated over this to enable me to tile the walls securely?
Thank you.

You can't - get as much off as possible preferably all although that will be almost impossible. Warm water, a scrubbing brush and plenty of elbow grease.

What's the substrate?

Cheers

where are the tiles? if in the kitchen then i'd be inclined to leave it and just tile.

if shower/bath then you definitely want to remove. or you could reskim the wall - apply pva and plaster when tacky. then use a latex primer once the plaster had dried.
