no hot water

by jevs » Fri Jan 02, 2009 9:04 pm

Recently our hot water has stopped working, the central heating is fine though. We also noticed that when the hot water is due to come on the radiators heat up instead. So I replaced the actuator on the flowshare valve believing it must be this that was not functioning, but we still have the same problem. I have now removed the flowshare unit completely and I am heating the water by manually lifting the remaining lever and holding in place with some string  Prior to removing it I viewed the flowshare unit when the hot water is meant to come on and the lever kind of pulsed up and down a few times then seemed to give up and settle into the heating position. Anybody got any ideas what could be going on ( in laymans terms please )

same happened to me yesterday all rads hot but no hot water. It was the flow share valve actuator (a small plastic box on the end of the pipework)which is controlled electronically by the timer depending on weather you want just hot water just rads or both. you can remove the actuator and manually move the valve in my case to the middle position(turn off power to unit first) Then if you turn on your hot tap you should get hot water
