I'm sorry I don't understand your question - I'm not an electrician.
Your comment reminded me that when our friend recently fitted our kitchen he drilled through a cable but said that the speed of the drill would seal the casing. I'm now wondering if he's damaged the wire and this is causing the problem. The light bangs whether the light is on or off - it doesn't prevent the light from working.

was this the fuse/mcb breaking, the flashing sounds like a loose connection or damaged insulation on cable that is arching across to another conductive component, this could cause a short circuit and the fuse to blow.
