by markyt » Sat May 26, 2007 12:18 am

hi, i am about to start a bathroom replacement and have bought a whirlpool kit to fit into the new bath but i do not know which way to wire it up. can it be taken from the light circuit or a spur from the plug socket? any help appreciated.
thanks.

Hi Mark,
you do know you will be breaking the law if you do this yourself! Part P, bld regs. see forum 'projects'.
However for infomation, you can't take supply for pump from light cct., must be from power, ie spur as you say, if your socket cct. is not protected by an RCD already then you will need to install a "power-breaker" RCD-fused spur outside the room somewhere nearby ie airing cupboard etc..
If main RCD already fitted then a local fused spur (fused connection unit) OK,
