People allways ask which is the best from the two suppliers British gas or N power but i have been told it depends on the area, circumstances and what tarrifs you have.

What does this mean, can somone explain ?

From what i've heard British Gas and NPower are the most expensive. Go on USWITCH.com and search for the best deal in your area. And i'd never go with NPower again as I was with them and their customer service is shocking.

I'm with EDF for Electricity and Equidual for Gas. Ebico Equidual are the cheapest in most areas of the UK, quick and easy switchover - no hassle.

The tarrif is the charge in £ for each unit of energy you consume. You will probably also have services charges to take into consideration.

surely n power and british gas pay the same amount for gas an electricity. Then how do they reduce costs to the customer ? does it depend on the profit they make.

Or in Great ??? (rip-off) Britain, the more they make, the more they want and the more they put the prices up. Same with petrol.

It does depend on where you live as to what you will pay for gas, go onto EDF website for example, Electricity London you pay 10.35p per kwh - Midlands 9.42p per kwh.

I understand that a tarrif is the unit of energy you consume but why is certain tarrifs cheaper then other's for the same supplier ?

I think British Gas have six tarrifs.

I work for a gas an ele supplier, one of the big 6. I live and work in wales which is part of the swalec region, npower is the cheapest for gas and british gas is the cheapest for ele, so it really depends on where you live. If u phone the companies and ask they will tell u that its cheaper to have gas and ele together, these discounts are so small that it isnt worth it.

Look at the site Uswitch.com. It will give you suppliers in your area.

British Gas as a field sales advisor use a map of the suppliers in each area so that they are aware of the competitiors before i knocked the door.
