Hi

I need to replace my oil central heating tank and its position doesn't conform to the current regs - it's too close to the house. It was legal when it was installed. Because it will be a replacement can I just put the new one in the existing place, or will it have to be resited to conform with the regs?

If it does have to be resited, is there a way of pumping the oil from the new position, across the garden, down a 1'6" high wall, across the path and up to the wall-mounted boiler? Or will some expensive digging have to be done?

Depends on where it is located, it must have a 30min fire resistive barrier extending 1.8m on all sides. Get the firm who will replace the tank to advise.
There is no problem pumping oil up to a wall mounted boiler it just needs a two pipe system - the pump in the boiler will do the rest but priming can be difficult.

Thanks! 1.8m beyond the tank seems a bit excessive. Looks like it's going to be a new boiler too, now.
