Outside light connected to ring main

by haydn_charlene@sky.com » Wed Feb 04, 2009 5:54 am

Hi there, Been looking through the 17th ed but cant find my answer. Basically I want to install an outside light mounted on the wall in my back yard. The idea I have is to connect a fused switched spur to my ring main in the lounge and then connect the outside light to this switched fused spur. THe light outside is no problem as it is IP55 rated. I also am aware that I will need to change the ring MCB in the CU to an RCD. Or, as it is a light, do I need to connect this to the lighting circuit Any ideas would be great.
