fireplace paint- how to remove old paint

by n113 » Thu Feb 05, 2009 10:46 am

i am trying to restore a victorian fireplace surround

it has previosly been painted, but it was allowed to dry with big drips running down it, and is now v dirty.

the paint seems to be resistant to strippers, heat guns and elbow grease. i have only been able to remove a very small area. how should i proceed?

n113,
Remove the surround and get it to a commercial paint strippers - let them worry about how to remove the paint and the problems associated with lead paint.
