Noisy Central Heating Pipes

by kbrownie » Sun Feb 08, 2009 6:45 pm

Hi,
My central heating pipes seem to creek and make a ticking like noise (not as regular as a clock tick though, just a noise like it) when the heating is switched on. I have re-nothed joist out to give a little more space so they don't touch each other and lagged them too, as I thought this could be the problem but to no avail.
Any ideas anyone?

Hi KB

Well you obviously have thermal expansion - perhaps in a different place to the one where you have taken the precautions you describe?

Cheers

Hi Rosebury,
Thanks for reply, the noise is coming from the same area as I have re-notched and lagged, may I add I did not install the pipes but have recently bought the house and it's driving my nuts. Can't think what it can be!
