Lighting- pendant stops live feed ? Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

I have a light fitting which stoped working , and i thought it was just the bulb ,
1,I replaced bulb and the pendant still wouldnt work
2,I tried the pendant on connection by removing existing working one and swapping over and it works.
3, I checked all wires were not loose in both switches
4, Using electric screw driver i tested that both light switches could turn power off and on.
5, in the ceiling rose all red wires are connected together L
all earth wires are connected
i have my labeled black red wire going to the SW
and all remaing black wires go together N

HERES THE PROBLEM I THINK

When I put the light fitting (normal run of the mill pendant which works in other parts of house) [b] on and check the connetion with a electric screw driver the Black with red tape switch cease to be live ?
How is this light disrupting the live ?
Where could the conflict be ? [/b]

All other lights in the house are working fine

hi there

ok from what you have said you need to check these things,

have you got old switches on the walls, occasionally they break down internally and stop the live going to the lamp,
Check that the switch line in the pendent isnt broken on the terminal as that happens sometimes when you tighten them up with older cable.

If you say its wired correctly try those things first.
