Electric shower instructions only recommend a rcd, does this mean that a rcd does not have to be fitted.
Is supplementary bonding required for the shower and what size, Ive seen 10mm cable and a seperate 10mm earth cable hanging down the wall ready for the electrician to connect, can you get both these earths into the connecting block.

Hi John , with regards to 1st ? , the shower will require an RCD , this can go either 2 ways i.) A seperate RCD outside the consumer unit (Fuse Box)
ii.) If the consumer unit is already a split load board and there is a spare way in there on the protected side then you just need the correct MCB fitting . (Remember this is part p work and should be done by a qualified and certified electrician )

Secondly as regards supplementary bonding , this is a requirement to bond your water pipes that could possibly become live , the supplementary bonding should be taken from the water pipe ( that connects to shower) with 4mm earth cable , this can then be connected either to a spur or socket ( outside the room with the shower) . Tis ensures that all pipework is earthed. Hope this helps . Don't know where the 10 mm earth wire comes into it though . Any more info would be helpfull .Regards Jeff

Hi John, depends on your supply earthing arrangements But I would not like to stand in a bucket of water whilst turning on electrical sw.!
As this is a new inst. it might be prudent to fit an RCD as 17th edition regs will require any bathroom circuit to be so protected.
Main stopcock bonding must be 10mm, but suppl. only needs to be 4mm.
