Garage wall and about 2ft of earth!

by mcslemon » Mon Feb 23, 2009 3:56 pm

Hi,

I'd like to extend my garden a little but need to know if it's possible to do.

Basically I have virtually the whole side of my garage wall in my garden. My garden is raised about 2 feet off the floor so you walk down steps to the garage.

We are hoping to extend the lawn so it's up against the garage wall. Obviously this may cause issues when it comes to damp. Would people advise us doing this in the first place? I was thinking about putting damp course between the wood and the garage and then the wood would hold the earth in place.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Neil.

PS I can take some photos if required.

Keep it away from the garage. Build a small retaining wall away from the garage and backfill to that.

HTH

Cheers
