Combi boiler (Ideal Europa 24/28) problems

by TA girl » Wed Sep 17, 2008 9:46 pm

Hi - I'm having problems with my Ideal Europa 24/28 boiler. Hot water is fine but when I switch on the CH the boiler fires up then stitches itself off again about a minute later. It does this all the time so that the heaters are always just luke warm. Can anyone help???? Thanks

Ideal Europa 24/28 combi boiler

Help !!! I also have an Ideal Europa 24/28 combi boiler and the same problem TA Girl had. The water is perfect & no problems but.... the central heating is switching on then turning off within a minute !! I have had the rads bleed, then flushed to check but still no luck.

Any ideas ??????

I have the same boiler and the same problem. It's been diagnosed as a faulty diverter valve - its job is to switch between hot water to taps/other appliances (e.g w/machine) and hot water to radiators, very likely to be sticky valve.

If changing diverter valve its often wise to change the overheat thermostat at the same time as the two are quite difficult to diagnose seperately. Likely cost for both parts fully fitted is circa £400 (London).

I've given up completely as i've had repeated problems with the Europa. Every plumber that's looked at it shudders and says its cheap and nasty. New boiler for me.
