Rendering grainte and stone wall

by Joselin » Tue Mar 10, 2009 2:12 pm

Hi

I've a external toilet and outhouse that im going to be taking down which will expose a old granite (plus random other stones) wall, I've noticed the old mortar is very crumbly and dusty so i expect it wash away with rain if i dont render or plaster the wall.

Does anyone have any knowledge on the best way to do this ?

thanks

seems a shame to cover old stone with render that then needs constant painting and then damp pushes it all off in two years?????? . Can you not power wash it all out and then lime point it all to keep some kind of feature.

It sounds like lime to me, so as "youasked" suggested, rake it out and repoint with a lime mix
