Hi, with the 'harmonizing' and alingnment with our European brethrend ethos, the 17th Edition Regs now dispenses with Zone 3 restrictions in bathrooms and even allows for socket outlets to be fitted (subject to distance from Zone 1)

Based on this, is it permissible within the regs to now fit a 3 pole isolator switch serving an Extractor Fan within the bathroom?

My intention is to site it well away from Zone 2 adjacent to the door at appprox 2m high up a wall?

Hi Ken
In zone 2 Only switches and sockets of a selv circuit are permited, the safety source of supply should be outside the zones. And the enclosures should be a minimum of IPX4 depending on enviroment this may need to be higher. Missed the the point a plate switch is allowed outside the zones of a bathroom it should be at least 0.6 metres from the edge of the bath or shower and suitable for the location it is being installed in. general rules apply as far rcd protection.
