hi, im briefly aware of what diy electrical work can be done at home according to Part P, can anyone give some advice on to the law / rules of diy electrical work in a property such as a communiyt hall. Is it allowed, providing it is checked by building control??

No BC cannot inspect electrics in public buildings you will need to use a full blown electrician - not a part P registered one.

Hi, work in public places is covered by the 'Electricity @ work Act' which in turn refers to the IET wiring regs. as a way of compliance.
As Stoneyboy says, although there is no statute to prevent DIY work in such places, they must have periodic inspections done regularly for local authority requirements and insurance companies to honour claims.
However ALL electrical work done ANYWHERE by ANYONE MUST be certified by the person doing the work at the time, using calibrated instruments and the results recorded on the standard forms as shown in the regs book, effectively ruling out DIY,
