Cat sick on quarry tiles!

by LisaC » Mon Mar 30, 2009 12:10 pm

Can anyone give any advice - my cat has been sick several times on the quarry tiles on our kitchen floor and this has taken the 'varnish' top layer off the tiles, so we have been left with little dull patches all over the floor. Got some stuff from Fired Earth to try to use on the patches, but it hasn't had any effect on the dull bits. Do I need to take the surface off the whole lot and start again? And what products should I use?

I think you need to do the whole floor and suggest the following:

1. Strip all existing polishes with HG Polish Strip / Lithofin Intensive Cleaner.
2. Leave until the tiles have dried out. This will take a couple of days as you need to keep rinsing the stripper with lots of warm water.
3. Seal the tiles with Lithofin Stain Stop or HG Impregnator.
4. Colour up some wax and apply. The more coats, the deeper the colour gets.

As an alternative to 4 just use the sealer which will let the natural colour of the tiles come though.

Cheers

Thanks Rosebery. It's going to be a pain to do, but I think it's the only way!
