Replacing a fixing to a Plasterboard Wall

by Colin1 » Sat Apr 04, 2009 6:25 pm

I've got a problem with a fixing to a plasterboard wall.

Basically, one of the brackets that supported a curtain rail has come loose and the fixing hole has become enlarged. The hole is now too big for an 8mm rawlplug, but not deep enough for a 10mm rawlplug, nor deep enough for a metal anchor.

I'd prefer to avoid having to drill into the plaster behind th plasterboard. Does anyone have have any suggestions or know of shorter rawlplugs that still fit a 10mm hole?

Thanks

"Basically, one of the brackets that supported a curtain rail has come loose and the fixing hole has become enlarged."

Im guessing because it used a standard wall plug which do not work with plasterboard.

"I'd prefer to avoid having to drill into the plaster behind th plasterboard."

Why? - that would seem to be the only sensible aproach.

Cheers

Lack of DIY ability to be fair. Which probably answers the question regarding filling and re-drilling, I just don't have a clue whether that would work, as in would the filled hole hold the bracket?

Looks like I might need to drill into the plaster
