I have a back boiler (which works perfectly well) have been quoted £2500 all in, to convert to a worcester combi boiler system. Is it worth it? will I save that much on my heating/hot water bill? (p.s. can you still buy back boilers?)

If it works well I would leave it alone. You will save money changing to a more efficient boiler but you will not make back the £2500 installation cost for many years (10+ guessing) from the savings.

If you do not use much hot water, (because you use an electric shower etc) then the system you have is quite wasteful. With a combi you will only heat the water you need/use.

I am in a similar situation (ish).

Isn't it posible to connect your exisiting back boiler into your need boiler (via expansion/storage tank), so that when the open fire is on water is heated so the new boiler is off, and when the fire is off and water is required the boiler kicks in.

I am doing a conversion and would like to install a stove/fire that heats water with wood, but have an oil-fired boiler aswell.
