Extractor Fan/Light Combo...

by rarara » Wed Apr 15, 2009 6:12 pm

Hi,

I want to fit an extractor fan in the bathroom, and due to certain limitations it will have to be one of the ones which is combined with a light/downlighter, and it will go in the spot that we currently have a ceiling light.

My question is, what is the output of these like? The bathroom is about 2mx2m and we currently have a 100w bulb on the roof, with no shade.

Will one of the fans (typically like the model from B&Q) be a fair bit dimmer. They seem to be anything from 35 to 50W and halogen, which may or may not be brighter than a standard bulb?

Also, is it q fairly direct beam of light, as opposed to the bulb which spreads around the room at present?? Anyone recommend something suitable?

thanks a lot

The problem is, fitting extractors and new lighting in a bathroom comes under the new Part P regulations, so should only be attempted by a qualified electrician.

DIY installation is illegal (unless you pay your fee for inspection), and may invalidate your house insurance.

Sorry, but there it is.
