Turn off mains cold water, and drain down the heating from the drain off on or near the boiler,

leave for 5 - 10 mins then open all radiator vents upstairs this will ensure the primary heating pies are emptied, run hot taps when the water stops the cylinder is empty.

You can then disconnect all pipes from the cylinder (bung all connections on cylinder with tissue or paper, to stop water coming out when carrying)

you can then install the new cylinder, close all radiator vents and turn on the cold water.

Leave for 10 - 15 mins to fill then vent all radiators upstairs, turn heating and water on and check for leaks and that its working.
