by lonaxb1 » Mon May 04, 2009 9:45 am

My cold water tank is overflowing and water coming out of overflow pipe into garden. Only stops when heating/hot water turned on. Can you help?

Yes. Call a plumber...

Sounds like the leaking stops because your boiler is filling up when you turn it on. Your leak may have many causes, therefore it is impossible to help you without furher info...

Go in the roofspace.

Locate tank.

Bend arm of ballvalve downwards.

If the valve is still not shutting off completely isolate riser to tank.

Remove old ballvalve and replace the whole thing. Its going to be quicker and easier than messing about removing it, taking it apart, replacing washer and HP cone, reassembling it and putting it back.

Cheers
