Hi all,
I have decided to build a garage, well my builder friend will do the building the shell, but i'll be getting my hands dirty too.
I'm about to put in for PP, I'm having a go at the design and drawing up of plans myself. So is there a permitted pitch that the roof should be it's a stand alone single story build, with double skin brick and block work. I hope to install solar panels to the roof either part of the roof or fixed on to of it.
would really appreciate any advise.

Suggest you match the pitch of your house so the garage looks in keeping.

If you want it to be more than just a garage eg workshop, if you make the pitch steeper you can then go for a collared roof which will give you greater headroom (and more storage).
Cheapest option would be a flat roof. The steeper the pitch on a pitched roof the more tiles will be needed and will cost more.
Cost it both ways and decide from there.

only that certain tiles are suitable for certain pitches, so if you match your existing pitch, and use the same tiles you should be ok

My intention is like most garages no longer used to put car in overnight or for safety but to use as workshop and storage.
