Ground level 6inch above air brick

by fcwoods99 » Mon May 11, 2009 11:48 pm

I am lowering the ground level at back of house as I am told the damp in house is caused by the ground level getting higher over the years !
At the moment it is 6inch above the air bricks (air brick is visible as it is boxed off so air goes down and in !!! guess this is what whoever was thinking !)
At what level should the ground be to air brick .

Thats intelligent - he completely forgot about the DPC which should be a minimum 150mm above ground level. Its the bridging of your DPC which is causing the damp issues really rather more than the curent location of the airbrick vis-a-vis ground level.

So find your DPC. Lower the ground level min 150mm below that. Your airbricks should be well above ground level now.

Cheers
