I'm hoping someone can suggest a solution to my problem. It's a single skin brickwork garage and I'm getting fed up of all the dust accumulating as a result of salts on the surface of the brickwork - the walls get damp and leave salts on the surface as they dry (pain in the butt!).

I was thinking of applying a coating to the inner wall surface. What would work? Would a PVA solution help?

Apply a few coats of silicone liquid to the outer of the wall. Definitely not PVA to the inner surface.

Siicone liquid, would that be something like Thompson Water Seal?

Can I ask why an internal PVA coating would be a bad idea? What I'd like to do is create an internal barrier to stop efflorescence accumulation on the surface of the brickwork.

Similarly, what about Thompson Paving and Patio Seal - would that be suitable for coating brickwork internally? I'm also looking at acrylic coatings etc.

Yes thompsons water seal is fine.
PVA is a waterbased solution and does not chemically set - it only dries.
Once you stop the water penetrating from outside the salts will stop appearing. Leave the inside uncoated and moisture in the wall can the disperse.
